Cordless Keyboard and Mouse Review
Logitech Cordless Freedom Navigator

After hearing about the benefits of wireless technology, we decided to try some new tools ourselves. Although we don’t claim affiliation with any particular brand, we have been using Logitech’s Cordless Freedom Navigator, which includes the cordless Desktopä iTouchä keyboard, cordless Mousemanä wheel mouse, and single compact receiver, purchased for $149.95 (Canadian) from Computer City. We are happy to report that Logitech does indeed live up to all its promises.

Logitech claims that these cordless devices provide maximum freedom and flexibility, ease of access to the Internet and multimedia from the keyboard, mouse comfort and control for either hand, and a keyboard made for comfort using a palm rest. The palm rest creates a natural curvature that eases the tension off my wrists. The mouse provides ease of access as well, with a wheel for scrolling documents.

With its radio technology, the Cordless Mousemanä works within a 6-foot range of the computer. The mouse can be used during presentations, freeing the presenter from the confines of a podium.

The instructions were very easy to follow and the set up was instantaneous. The iTouchä includes a small transmitter which must be connected to either a PS/2 or a USB port. Logitech won our accolades by including an otherwise hard-to-find USB to PS/2 adapter. The only required maintenance is to periodically replace the batteries in the keyboard (2 AAs) and the mouse (2 AAAs). The Cordless Desktopä iTouchä is made for systems running Windows 95, 98, or NT 4.0, or later, with a CD-ROM drive to install the software. The Internet browser control can be used with Netscape Navigator 3.0 or higher, America Online 5.0 or higher, and MS Internet Explorer 3.0 or higher.
