Alphabet Soup - A Glossary

ASP: Application Service Providers,** as referred to in our article, are third-party entities that manage and distribute software-based services and solutions to customers across a wide area network from a central data center. This means that instead of having to buy certain software packages, the users can  log onto the Internet,  "use" the software through a web browser, and pay a per-minute-per-use fee. (**There is another meaning of ASP which refers to a specification for dynamically generating web pages.)

Volume Business ASP’s: supply general small/medium-sized businesses with prepackaged application services in volume.
