Alphabet Soup - A Glossary
In each newsletter we define some of the terms and acronyms related to the featured articles. Soon we will have a link to the entire glossary.

Broadband: a type of data transmission in which a single medium wire can carry several channels at once.

Baseband: a type of digital data transmission in which each medium wire carries only one signal or channel at a time.

Channels: a communications path between two computers or devices.

LAN: Local Area Network, communications network used to connect users within a single location, such as an office.

WAN: Wide Area Network, which connects widely separate locations. Think of WAN's as the interstate highways and LANs as the secondary roads connecting them.
