E-Commerce Holiday Success Story:

America Online Reports Record Sales

America Online reported record spending during the 1999 holiday season.  AOL users spent $2.5 billion between Thanksgiving and Christmas, which was double the amount for last season.  According to the Internet Research Group, two-thirds of AOL members are shopping online, and many of them made their first ever purchases this past Christmas.

AOL reported that 95% of its shoppers rated customer service this season as excellent or good.  Bob Pittman, AOL President and CEO, said the holiday season was a banner shopping season for merchants who sell goods through AOL.  With the number of new shoppers entering the category this season, he predicts continued growth in e-commerce throughout 2000.
